Anyone who has ever made slime knows that it won't work without an activator. There are several alternative slime activators and you can use the one you prefer.

What is slime activator?

It is the activator that binds the glue and other ingredients together to form slime. Without an activator, you will just have a boring mixture and not a slime that you can play with. You can make your own activator from, for example, contact lens fluid, but it is safest to buy a ready-made activator like the ones we sell. Then you know that it will be right and that the ingredients are approved.

What is the best activator for slime?

We think it's best to use ready-made activator from one of the major brands. Then you know that it will be right when you mix your own slime and you know that all the parts are tested and approved. In addition, the activators come in several different varieties that you can use if you want to make glitter slime or metallic slime, for example.

What can you use as a slime activator?

In addition to the ready-made activators that we at Hurry Skurry sell, you can use borax, boric acid and sodium borate. You can use:

• borax powder
• liquid starch
• contact lens fluid and baking soda

Each of these contains ingredients that act as an activator to make the perfect slime. You can experiment with which one you like best.

Contact lens solution and baking soda are easy to find. Please note that it is super important to make sure to use contact lens solution that contains boric acid and sodium borate. Some contact lens solutions contain only a saline solution and will not work to make slime with. Good luck making your own Slime!
