Allt du behöver veta om Slime.

Everything you need to know about Slime.

Hurry Skurry Admin|

Did you know that the first slime was made back in 1976...! That's 43 years ago.

Back then, there weren’t that many varieties to choose from, but over time, people have developed the types of slime and created more and more variations. There are many slime videos on YouTube to watch if you want inspiration, and in this article we wanted to explain how the different types differ from each other and what you can do with your slime. Remember, there is no right or wrong way – just do what you think is fun!

Before you start, you need to prepare a good table surface for your slime:

  1. Clean a hard, non-porous surface
  2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  3. Take your slime out of the container and start playing.

A little tip!
When handling your slime, remember to use quick movements so it doesn't stick to your hands.

Words and concepts

To help you understand the most common words and concepts related to slime, we have compiled a glossary:

  • Activator – You use the necessary liquid to make slime (e.g. lens fluid or a ready-made slime activator).
  • Poke – It is the sound (roughly “thwoock”) that occurs when you press your fingers into the slime itself. The higher the resistance, which means a louder sound, your slime has – the better quality it is.
  • Drizzle – You hold the slime up in the air for a while and then let it slowly sink to the surface.
  • Thick – The term is used to describe a thicker slime.

There are many different types of slime and they all have different properties. Here are some examples of different varieties:

  • Butter Slime is a soft and airy slime that can be “spread like butter” – hence the name.
  • Cloud Slime is a super light, stringy slime that you can “drizzle” with – see description above.
  • Glossy Slime a slime that is glossy in color and makes the best poke sounds – see description of poke above.
  • Slushee/Fishbowl/Sugar Slime has different types of beads inside that provide a nice texture, wonderful resistance and the perfect crunching sound when kneading.
  • Clear Slime is a transparent, stretchy and poke-friendly slime.
  • Slime is a shaky slime with a springy consistency.

How should you store your slime?

You should always store slime in an airtight container to make it last longer.

Heat and sunlight can deactivate (melt) your slime, so it is important that you do not leave it exposed to sunlight when you are not using it. Instead, put the jar in a drawer and preferably in a cool place, but not in the refrigerator.

Slime is a consumable product and has a recommended lifespan of 2-6 months. The time varies depending on how much you use your slime and whether dust or dirt gets into it. If you notice that your slime changes color or starts to smell strange, you should throw it away.

Did you know this?
In science, slime is considered a non-Newtonian fluid, meaning it behaves like both a liquid and a solid. A common experiment to demonstrate non-Newtonian fluids is to mix potato starch with about half as much water, then roll the liquid into a ball. When the ball stops rolling, it immediately turns back into a liquid.
